I am a coach.
From ages 14-25 I was a swim coach. That defined the rest of my life.
Whatever success I had over the next 25 years as a sales leader, came from finding, recruiting, and working with folks to help them succeed.
Since I “retired” in 2017 to become a full-time faculty member, my focus has largely been on working to build sales programs at the undergraduate level. I have developed four sales/marketing courses – first for delivery at Stetson University, and now at Appalachian State University. In effect, I got to move from a world where 90% of my effort was focused on making the number and putting out fires to one where I get to spend 90% of my time as a coach.
I love working with students to help develop their professional skills. Watching these folks go out into the world and be successful is a joy.
I also love working with professionals, and sales leaders, in particular, to help them maximize their own effectiveness – and leverage that into their team’s performance.
